DEFINITION

Archival framing – is the framing process employ only archival framing materials (matboard, backing board, tapes …) and archival framing techniques (hinging, mounting …).

Advantage

The biggest advantage of archival framing is the longevity of the framed package, its aesthetic remains for longer time compared cheaper framing method (The longevity of the frame depends on the chosen framing levels – see below).

Disadvantage

The downside of archival is the initial investment is much higher than regular framing method.
